What is Google PageRank?

pagerank

PageRank is a ranking algorithm developed by Google that evaluates the popularity and authority of a web page based on the number and quality of incoming links it receives from other pages.

How PageRank works is quite simple: every time another web page contains a link to a specific page, Google considers that link as a vote for that page. However, not all votes have the same weight: Google also considers the popularity and authority of the pages providing the link, giving them a greater value.

So, if a web page receives many inbound links from other popular and authoritative web pages, its PageRank will increase. On the contrary, if a page receives few links or links from less authoritative pages, its PageRank will decrease.

PageRank is just one of many factors that Google uses to determine a page's position in search results. However, it is one of the most important, as it is the foundation on which Google's search algorithm is based.
